How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is an extremely discreet orthodontic option that can improve teeth that are crooked, crowded together, or spaced too far apart. Here at Sammamish Dental Center in Issaquah, WA, your dentist, Dr. Neda Goharkhay, can determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign.

Invisalign’s Aligner Trays

Since Invisalign's trays are made from a clear material that is not readily noticeable, this treatment is extremely discreet. The trays work by gently exerting pressure on the teeth to help nudge them in the intended direction.

Separate trays are worn over the top and bottom rows of teeth and each set of trays is replaced with a new set every few weeks. The teeth move closer to their final straightened position with each new set of trays in the series. Patients generally wear Invisalign’s aligner trays for about twelve months, on average, to achieve the desired results.

Invisalign can be used to straighten crooked teeth and improve spacing between crowded or overlapping teeth. The aligner trays can also help close gaps between teeth where there is excess space. Minor bite alignment problems can also be corrected with Invisalign, but more serious issues are best treated with braces. The skilled dentist at our office in Issaquah can tell you if Invisalign would work for you.

Benefits of Invisalign

In addition to being discreet, Invisalign's trays are also very comfortable. The trays are made from a soft plastic material that is flexible and fits comfortably in the mouth. Furthermore, the trays are custom made for the best fit possible.

Additionally, the aligner trays are removable so that they can be taken out when eating to prevent anything from becoming stuck in the trays. This removability also simplifies brushing and flossing, making it easier to maintain optimal oral hygiene.
