Crowns and Bridges in Issaquah, WA

When dental problems happen to you, whether it’s a cracked tooth or a missing tooth, know that our dentist Dr. Neda Goharkhay provides quality, dependable restorative dentistry right here in Issaquah, WA. We know that these issues can often cause our patients to become stressed and overwhelmed, but it can be reassuring to know that our dental team has your back (and your smile!). Here’s what you should know about dental crowns and bridges, two of the most popular restorations we offer.

What is a dental crown?

A crown is a hollow, customized tooth-shaped cap that is designed to fit over a tooth to become its new outer layer. A crown is placed over a weak or damaged tooth to help restore resiliency and functionality. A damaged tooth is susceptible to further damage if a crown isn’t placed, which is why this restoration is so important to the health and longevity of a damaged tooth.

While crowns are typically restorative in nature, they also offer cosmetic benefits, as well. Imagine if you have a tooth that is deformed, oddly shaped, or severely discolored. You may be embarrassed by your smile; fortunately, a dental crown can be placed over this tooth to completely transform it, so it looks like the rest of your smile.

Am I right for a dental crown?

If you are dealing with a damaged tooth or a tooth that requires a serious cosmetic makeover, then dental crowns may be right for you. Our dentist will be able to tell you during your consultation whether this dental cap can improve the appearance and health of your smile.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is another custom-fitted dental prosthetic that is designed to replace one or two teeth in a row by filling the gap with a pontic, or false tooth. To do this, we will need to use dental crowns to support the bridge. On either side of this prosthetic are two specially crafted crowns. These crowns will be cemented into place over healthy natural teeth that sit on both sides of the gap. These crowns will also stabilize and hold the false tooth in place.

Am I right for a dental bridge?

If you are missing a single tooth or two teeth in a row, but the rest of your smile is strong and healthy, then a dental bridge may be the best option for replacing your missing teeth. If you want to treat your tooth loss quickly without having to undergo surgery, then this might be the best option for you.
